QUALIFYING FOR BENEFITS
Qualifying for Benefits if You Have Neuropathy
Neuropathy can be intensely painful and disabling, and yet social security denies many valid claims for individuals with neuropathy.
If neuropathy has stopped you from working, you will almost certainly need an attorney to represent you to appeal your denials and to present the strongest possible case at your hearing.
Neuropathy can be caused by diabetes, spinal injury, or chemotherapy. There are also neuropathies without any known cause, such as Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIPD). Regardless of the cause, neuropathy that is severe can qualify for disability.
I have successfully represented many people with disabling painful neuropathy and I am ready to help you, with your doctors, establish the right medical evidence to meet social security’s stringent criteria for disability due to neuropathy. This can be done by proving that you “meet” social security’s listing criteria for neuropathy, that you are unable to return to past work if you are over 50, or simply by showing that you are unable to perform any regular, full time job. Specific medical evidence that is not in your doctor’s regular notes is almost always needed.
